Beckham again shines as AC Milan beat Lazio

Beckham has again been in great form for AC Milan as they beat Lazio 3 - 0. Since moving to AC Milan Beckham has impressed, scoring two goals; his first against Bologna and his second, a great freekick, against Genoa.

Beckham originally moved to AC Milan to maintain form and keep fit to force his inclusion in England's next friendly game against Spain. However, speculation is growing that he may stay in Italy beyond his loan term.

The reason why Beckham may stay at AC Milan is most probably because he is again playing with players of a high quality and enjoying himself. He's not the sort of player that can lead a team single handedly but he is the type of player that can allow great players around him to find space, score goals and make runs knowing that a quality ball will reach them.

Let's hope that L.A Galaxy don't stand in the way of allowing Beckham to play on a decent stage for the next few years of his career.

The MLS season finishes at the end of the week and Beckham needs to be playing competitive football to be considered by Fabio Capello so is going to join AC Milan on loan.

It's great news to see that Beckham will be playing in a truely competitive league. The pace of the game in Italy should also suit Beckham and allow him more time on the ball to pick out passes.

Steve Maclaren has accepted the FC Twente position that he has been linked to for quite a while.

Bring Back Beckham wishes him luck in this new role. Maybe if Steve had more experience when he took on the England role he wouldn't have made the mistakes he did. Hopefully he'll be successful and will have learnt from his experiences as the manager of England. It may even encourage more brits to try moving abroad where they can gain experience. It can only help the english game.

It's unbelievable to think that when this website started Beckham was not even included in the England squad, now he's been named England captain again. Well done Becks!

It is unlikely that Beckham will retain the captaincy for the world cup qualifiers but it shows that Beckham is truely in Capello's plans.

Some have said that Beckham's appointment as captain is "political" to influence the 2018 world cup decision but Capello is not the sort of person who would be pressured into making a decision that he does not believe in.

Will Beckham reach 101 caps?

Yes. And I'll tell you why. At the moment we still don't have anybody who can replace him in the squad.

Bentley is currently the name that everybody is mentioning as Beckham's replacement. I certainly think that he is the favourite as he is a good crosser of the ball, good at freekicks, scores goals and has a passion for the game. Bentley's main drawbacks are experience and pace. He can gain experience but can't get any quicker. Wright-Phillips has bags of pace, can beat a man but his shooting and crossing are very inconsistent. Lennon has electric pace and is when he is on form is probably the best of the bunch at beating players but suffers similar problems to Wright-Phillips.

Beckham still provides squad options that cannot be offered by any other individual and until then Capello will continue to pick him.

Beckham's inclusion tends to receive only the extremes of responses. Either "Yes, he's Captain marvellous" or "No, I'm fed up with him, we should move on". I don't understand why people tend to only ever have a view at one of these extremes. However I've noticed that over the past few months some common sense opinions are being aired regarding Beckham's England involvement.

I for one, hope that Beckham maintains his fitness for the LA Galaxy and that his form, fitness and ability continue to justify a squad inclusion.

The BBC has reported that Beckham has been left out of the England squad against Switzerland.

It looks like the fact that Becks has not played a competitive game since the MLS season ended has been enough for Capello to drop Beckham.

Let's hope that Beckham hasn't played his last game for England.

Will Beckham be picked for the England v Switzerland game?

We don't know yet - but it appears to be unlikely.

Beckham has been in training with Arsenal during January in order to try and keep his fitness up whilst the MLS is on a break. Whilst Capello seems impressed with this it doesn't appear as if it is going to be enough. Capello apparently wants to pick "Match Fit" players and simply training may not be enough.

Beckham is looking for his 100th cap against Switzerland but it appears that he may have to wait a little longer.

We've been quiet here at Bring Back Beckham following England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008. The game against Croatia was a rollercoaster and Beckham did his bit by setting up a goal but it was truely disappointing. Maclaren paid the price for a poor campaign which he must take the blame for due to some very questionable and wrong decisions.

We've decided to break our silence after finding a fantastic piece of gossip.

The BBC Gossip page today reports that Capello (the most likely new England manager) may make Beckham captain for his 100th cap.

It would be a fantastic way to honour one of our most consistent and dedicated players. We hope this is fact and not just gossip!

Beckham to start on bench against Croatia

The BBC is reporting that Beckham is to start on the bench against Croatia. This is probably a good move by Maclaren as Beckham is short of match practice and may have more of an impact coming on after 60 minutes.

Becks has only played 60 minutes for England and been involved in two friendly games for L.A Galaxy since returning from injury so it look like Maclaren has taken the sensible option.

Maclaren has also dropped Robinson who has been out of form for months now. It appears that the England coach is making the kind of decisions that he should have been making from the start.

The Bring Back Beckham campaign was started because Beckham was dropped when he did not deserve to be and was not picked when he was in great form for Real Madrid. If Beckham is not playing well and is out of form then we believe that he should not be picked. At the moment he is lacking match practice so the correct decision is to keep his quality on the bench and use him as an impact substitute.

Israel give England and Beckham hope

Israel have done England and Backham a massive favour by beating Russia 2 -1 and leaving England requiring a draw against Croatia on Wednesday to qualify for Euro 2008.

England beat Austria by a single goal on Friday night with Beckham setting up the goal with a trademark corner. However, the performance was not fantastic and England only created a few chances throughout the game. In addition we will be without Michael Owen against Croatia after he limped out of the game with a torn thigh mussle.

Beckham played 60 minutes in the game and was the main threat to Austria with some great crosses and a few corners including the one that setup Peter Crouch for the England goal. Beckham does look a little off the pace but has lost none of his quality. Hopefully the ex-England captain will have a bit more energy against Croatia and continue to cause the opposition trouble with his undoubted vision and accuracy.

Beckham has been recalled and is expected to play in the game against Croatia. However the game may be meaningless unless Israel do something against Russia on 17 November.

With John Terry and Wayne Rooney injured Maclaren believes that he needs Beckham's experience for England's last Euro 2008 qualifier.

Let's just hope there is something to play for.

L.A Galaxy miss out on MLS playoffs

Galaxy lost to Chicago in a game that they needed to win. It was 0 - 0 going into injury time when Beckham gave away the ball on the halfway line leading to Chicago's goal.

With L.A Galaxy having no more games to play, Beckham will have no chance to play in competitive games before England's last Euro 2008 qualifier.

This could mean that Beckham may have played his last game for England.

This is terrible news for Beckham who will also miss most of Galaxy's season. He'll then need to prove his fitness and may struggle to get in future England squads.

One of the reasons that it's been so quiet here is that I just don't have the time to continually update the site with the latest Beckham news so I'm looking for somebody to help me keep the content on the Bring Back Beckham website fresh. So, I'm looking for somebody who fits the following criteria:

Beckham's success but continued struggle

It's been awfully quiet here at Bring Back Beckham . We don't like to gloat about our successs so we've kept quite about Beckham's recall and are just happy that he had a chance to show that he still has something to offer the national team.

It's now months since Beckham last pulled on the three lions. He's now moved on to L.A Galaxy and as yet has not played in a competitive game. However, he will and the Galaxy supporters need to keep the faith. There's no point him playing when he's injured so let him heal and then watch him perform at full fitness.

It seems that no matter what Beckham does he will always either be praised or criticised. Never anything in between. The great thing about Becks however is that he just keeps his chin high and gets on with it. We are confident that Beckham will come out of this current mini-slump with his head held high proving yet again he's a bigger man than his critics.

Will Beckham make the England Squad for the Germany friendly? Possibly not. He needs to get fit and start performing for L.A Galaxy. But we still believe that Beckham, when fit and performing, deserves a place in the England squad.

David Beckham is set to start against Brazil on Friday in the first game at the new Wembley. Beckham had been competing for a place with Lennon. However, Lennon was injured in the England B game earlier in the week and has now been ruled out.

Beckham will win 95th cap for his country on Friday and the Bring Back Beckham campaign has our very own reporter who will be in Wembley stadium to watch the game. Thanks to Simon's Jamjar for offering to do a report for us.

Simon will be amongst 90,000 lucky spectators who will see England play Brazil in the very first full international to be played at the new home of football.

Oh how I wish I was going to!

Becks on fire as Real Madrid beat Deportivo

Beckham continued his great run of form in a match that saw him set up two of Real's three goals.

Beckham provided a cross from the left which caused all sorts of problems for Deportivo; the ball eventually finding its way into the back of the net. Becks then provided a more trademark cross from the right for Ramos to head home. He also came close to getting a goal, hitting the woodwork with a freekick.

Beckham's form has forced Steve McClaren to give him a much deserved recall. Long may it continue.

The next chance that we will have to see Beckham in action is in the England v Brazil friendly on 1st June wearing the three lions with pride. Will Beckham wear the famous number 7 shirt?

All the signs are that David Beckham will be recalled to the England squad today at 12:00 BST.

Let us hope that this isn't a one off by Steve McClaren and the Becks will play well against Brazil and will then continue to be in the England manager's plans for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Israel.

BringBackBeckham on Five Live Discussion May 25th

I was invited on to a "Should Beckham be recalled?" discussion on the Stephen Nolan show on Radio Five Live tonight. It was an experience at the very least. Some guy called Joe Lovejoy from the Sunday Times was very anti-Beckham and very opinionated. You really need to take other people's thoughts on board and respond accordingly. Shouting over them doesn't really contribute to a true discussion. He became more of a focus than the debate itself. So, I'll stop talking about him.

Anyway, Five Live also did a text vote on Beckham's inclusion. The result was a resounding "Yes, Beckham should be included". Over 75% said yes.

As we keep saying, Beckham is within the top 23 English players available for selection to Steve McClaren and therefore deserves a place.

Beckham will be included in McClaren's squad tomorrow and will perform well and prove all us Bring Back Beckham supporters right and prove the minority, including Joe Lovejoy, wrong.

Graeme/Graham - who was also on the show and who's job is reporting on Spanish football: a big shout out to you. You made some great points and let others say their piece.

Beckham highly likely to be recalled by McClaren

Breaking news! The Times have published an article entited "Beckham on brink of recall" in which McClaren is quoted as saying:

"There’s been a lot of speculation about him [Beckham], but everybody will find out this weekend. It’s not even an issue now, but it may be after Saturday."

Please spare two minutes and vote to Bring Back Beckham.

This is a MASSIVE hint that Beckham will be in McClaren's 23 man squad to face Brazil. Ladbrokes have even stopped taking bets!

"I’ve never said the door has been closed on anybody,” McClaren said."David’s form has been monitored."

There was also comment suggesting that Beckham's move to L.A. Galaxy would not mean he would be excluded from future squads:

"If he is selected and plays well, Beckham, who remains desperate to reach 100 caps – his tally stands at 94 – will continue to be monitored by England scouts, in spite of the lower standards he will encounter in the United States"

McClaren won't reveal anything until Saturday

Football 365 has revealed, well nothing, about the squad that he will be naming on Saturday. McClaren wouldn't give any hint when queried about Beckham

There has been intense speculation surrounding a possible recall for David Beckham, who has been discarded since the World Cup but McClaren is keeping his cards close to his chest.

He said: "There has been a lot of speculation about David Beckham and quite a few other people. I am naming the squad on Saturday and everyone will find out then.

"I've got a game to get through, I've got to check on the Liverpool players, make sure the Manchester United and Chelsea players are available and put everything together and name a squad on Saturday."

He has "vowed to silence his critics " so lets hope he starts by picking the best possible squad which would involve naming Beckham.

Steve McClaren is set to name his squad this Saturday and there is increasing pressure from the media, players and the public for him to include David Beckham in his squad.

Whether you love or hate David Beckham the icon if you have any footballing knowledge at all you have to admit that Beckham the footballer has great ability and is currently on form.

Beckham's inclusion in the England squad for the Brazil friendly will be one of the hottest topics being discussed in footballing, and wider, circles over the next few days. There are some who do not believe that Beckham should be recalled but maybe Beckham stole a pie from you once and you still hold a grudge. Footballing banter aside, the overwhelming opinion amongst the media, players and general public is that Beckham's inclusion in the England squad would be fully justified .

The facts are:

Beckham is probably the best crosser of the ball in the world.
Beckham is one of the best freekick-takers on the planet.
Beckham has occassionally under performed for England in the past but it is up the the McClaren to get the best out of every player. Maybe he is not capable?
Steve McClaren dropped Beckham as a scapegoat to take blame for the failings under Sven
McClaren is more to blame than Beckham for the previous era’s failings as he was assistant coach/manager.
Beckham is still a great passer of the ball.
Beckham would not demand a first team place and would be happy to fight for his place as he has done at Real.
McClaren will need to admit his mistake in dropping Beckham as Capello (a far better manager than McClaren) has done .
Beckham will still be available for England after his move to L.A Galaxy . Beckham is currently back and forward to the U.S.A whilst playing in Europe.
Beckham will bring a media circus to each game and the manager will have to handle this. Capello can handle the pressure but it appears the McClaren cannot.
Beckham is on form.

The unfortunate truth is that the question is no longer:

“Does Beckham deserve a place in the England squad?”

The question now is:

“Will McClaren swallow his pride, recall David Beckham and in doing so pick the best possible England squad and serve his country as he was employed to do?”

Otley Rovers FC tried to pip LA Galaxy to the signing of Beckham but the England Superstar chose America for next season over the West Yorkshire club.

Thierry Henry backs Beckham recall again

Thierry Henry has backed Beckham to be recalled to the England squad for the second time. As long ago as October 2006 Henry made the call for Becks' recall in the England setup. Now in May 2007 he has again voiced his opinion that Beckham deserves a chance.

Amoungst other quotes Henry has said "when David was playing for England, people took him for granted. As soon as he's not playing people call for him to be recalled and that speaks volumes".

The Bring Back Beckham! campaign recently teamed up with Dean "Midas" Maynard to help increase awareness of the campaign. Here's the press release that we've sent out:

Phil Leggetter, 27, of Gainsborough, Lincs, set up www.bringbackbeckham.com in October 2006, since then over 14,150 people have backed the campaign to Bring Back Beckham into the England squad.

The big question on everyones lips right now is "will Beckham be included in the England squad against Brazil?"

The Sun have reported that McClaren is considering recalling Beckham after Becks was again one of the best performers as Real won their latest game in La Liga .

Beckham set up the first with a pin-point accurate cross from the right for Robinho to head home. Becks delivery from the right was excellent all game setting up various other chances. He was then involved in each of the moves that led to a Real penalty and then a 91st minute winner.

Goldenballs up for Golden Foot award

The Real Madrid website has reported that Beckham has been nomiated for the Golden Foot 2007 award.

"The Golden Foot award is given to players over the age of 29 who have excelled on the pitch - both individually and as a member of their team- and who have earned the esteem of fans and football experts alike."

Beckham has proven both his critics and his manager wrong this season. Capello dropped Beckham after he agreed to move to the L.A Galaxy. However Beckham maintained his performances in training and thanks to these performances, his team mates backing and Capello's humility in admitting his mistakes Beckham was soon recalled to the Real squad. Beckham was then inspirational in Real's win and has continued to be in excellent form.

Beckham was on the brink of a much sought England recall when an injury ruled him out. Following Beckham's return from injury he has continued to be included in Capello's Real squad and has been a big factor in Real taking top spot in the Spanish league from Barcelona.

Beckham has continued to inspire his fellow footballers and everybody that watches him this season and it would not surprise the Bring Back Beckham! campaign if Becks picks up the Golden Foot award - he certainly deserves it!

We can't believe we missed this but yesterday John Terry got behind the Bring Back Beckham! campaign . When asked if Beckham was just too good to be ignored.

Terry is quoted in a sun article entitled "Terry: Bring back becks" as saying:

"Yes, of course. He’s a fantastic player. That’s Steve McClaren’s decision to pick and drop players, but he’s still a world-class player"

Is there anybody left who believes that Beckham should not be recalled to the England squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers. Probably not!

Real Madrid chief Predrag Mijatovic has been quoted as admiting that they have made a mistake in not keeping David Beckham's services at the Bernabeu. The Sun article reveals that that Real wanted Beckham to stay all along and that they offered him a reduced contract thinking that he would not walk out on the club. This back-fired big-time!

If Real Madrid admit that Beckham would have had a future at the spanish giants then surely this proves that Beckham still has the ability to compete at the top domestic level and also at international level.

It's too late for Real Madrid to recall Beckham from L.A Galaxy but it's not to late for England to recall Beckham to the national team.

Beckham started his comeback after a four week absence from the Real squad by coming on and changing the game for Real Madrid v Valencia.

Beckham yet again reaffirmed his ability as one of the best crossers of the ball in world football by setting up Reals winning goal against Valencia.

Beckham's influence in Reals push for this seasons title cannot be under-estimated.

Beckham was dropped from the Real squad indefinately after confirming his move to L.A Galaxy but on his return he inspired Real to victory. After a run of great performances he was then injured. Now Beckham has returned to the squad he has again inspired his team to victory in one of the best leagues in the world.

Fabio Capello has accepted that Beckham has a massive part to play in Real's push for glory this year although he will be leaving at the end of the season. Capello is a manager who has achieved everywhere he has been and he has faced up the decision that dropping Beckham was a mistake.

Now it's time for Steve McClaren, who has achieved very little as manager in comparison to Capello, to take that same step and admit his mistake and recall Beckham to the England squad for the next England international game.

David Beckham is back in the Real squad today for the first time since his knee injury that has sidelined him for four months.

This is the start of the comeback trail for Beckham who still wishes to force his way back into Steve McClaren's England squad.

Things have been quiet for the Bring Back Beckham! campaign whilst Beckham has been injured but this is the start of the big push. Beckham will be part of Reals squad up until the end of the season and then he will join up with L.A Galaxy. During this time Becks will get a lot of publicity and this is our chance to ensure that McClaren takes notices of Beckham's performances and the public opinion that he still has a place in the England Squad.

L.A Galaxy won't stand in between Beckham and England

Alexi Lalas, General Manager of L.A Galaxy, has been quoted in a Sky Sports article as saying he will not stand in the way of Beckham if he is recalled by England.

This is great news. Beckham has been quoted many times saying that he still wants to play for his country. One concern had been that L.A Galaxy may want to recoup as much of Becks' wages as soon as possible but I guess they see him playing for England as a good way to keep him in the public eye.

Beckham deserves his recall, deserves to be picked for the game against Brazil, deserves to be called up for the future Euro 2008 qualifiers and if he does not reach 100 caps it will be a massive injustice for someone who has served his national football team so well!

The BBC have reported that England will play Brazil in the first full international friendly to be played at the new Wembley.

It would only be right for Beckham to be recalled for this game that will remain part of Wembley history. Beckham, whos previous recalled was ruined by injury, should have been back playing for a couple of months by June 1 and if his performances are anything like those prior to the injury he will deserve his recall.

This is a big opportunity for the Bring Back Beckham! campaign to get the wheels rolling prior to the game and make McClaren realise that Becks deserves a place in the England squad for this friendly and then in the future Euro 2008 qualifing games.

Even though Beckham isn't getting picked by current England manager Steve McClaren he still backs his country to qualify for the Euro 2008 championships.

Beckham was quoted as saying:

"Qualification is very difficult but I'm 100% behind these players and this team."

Would we expect anything different from the previous England captain? No!

We firmly believe that Beckham deserves to be part of the squad to help England qualify for the Euro 2008 championships and just hope that Steve McClaren gives Beckham a few chances to prove that he still has the ability to make a difference at the very top level.

England show second half improvement

We'll be the first to admit that the first half against Andorra was pretty poor. That being said the first half has to be compared with a non-league outfit putting 10 men behind the ball when playing a Premiership team.

Even the premiership team tend to find it difficult to break down the poor opposition.

England's tactics in the first half were not working. England were playing far too many long balls or crosses into the two small front men, Rooney and Johnson.

The game changes when the first goal is scored as it forces the underdogs to either push on to try and snatch a goal or to try and keep the defeat as low as possible.

It was after the first goal that England had more of a chance to open up Andorra and score a few goals.

All in all an average performance with moments of quality. Gerrard's first and second goals saw England string a number of passes together to open up the opposition. This was more like it!

Now all we need is England to continue playing like those quality moments and for Beckham to be recalled to the England squad for the next game against either Brazil at the new Wembley in May or Estonia on June 6

Steve McClaren is under increasing pressure with reports, that the F.A has denied, that he has been summoned to explain the current poor run of results. Indeed McClaren has come under fire recently for a variety of reasons including being accused of using spin rather than facing up the the poor performances.

Since Beckham isn't available for selection at the moment we can't ask McClaren to call him up to help solve some of the England team problems. So, the Bring Back Beckham! campaign team are asking you all to get behind McClaren and the England team for the game against Andora on Wednesday.

Beckham's injury rules him out of England return

Beckham was injured playing for Real Madrid against Getafe and will therefore not be available for selection for England against Isreal in the upcoming Euro 2008 qualifier.

This is probably fortunate for Steve McClaren who had already began cooling to the idea of giving Becks his deserved recall.

Well, that's one piece of luck for McClaren but a big blow for all real England supporters who wanted to see Beckham back wearing the three lions.

Don't give up hope! England will have further qualifier games where Beckham will be available. The first being against Estonia on Wednesday 6 June 2007. By that date we have faith that the England supporters will help Bring Back Beckham!

Capello has realised the mistake that he has made. It looks like Steve McClaren is running the Bring Back Beckham! campaign with his poor selection, tactics and use of substitutes. He should know by now that we take pride in how our nation performs and tonight simply was not good enough!.

Beckham clearly deserved a place in the squad against Spain tonight. The supply to the forwards from a below par Lampard and Gerrard, and lacking-in-confidence Wright-Phillips, was terrible. Beckham would have been an ideal option from the bench to provide that much needed killer pass or cross.

McClaren is giving the nation absolutely nothing to shout for and is adding fuel to the Bring Back Beckham! campaign.

Real doing even worse without Beckham

Okay, Real Madrid haven't won anything other than one cup since Beckham joined them but they are doing even worse since Capello decided to exile him.

After their most recent game Capello had a dig at Beckham even though he wasn't in the squad.

I don't think it'll be long before Capello is sacked as a scapegoat for Ramon Calderon and the next manager will surely use Becks until he leaves at the end of the season.

He started brightly, whipping in a dangerous cross with his first touch that Emerson headed tamely wide, and there were no signs that a month on the bench had affected his fitness. He also worked hard defensively, flying into one superbly timed tackle on Valentin Pachon to clear danger midway through the first half.

There appears to be big demand for Bring Back Beckham! T-Shirts, Mugs, Car Stickers, Banners and Flags but people in the UK don't seem to keen to use the current Bring Back Beckham! store as prices are in dollars. We think this is great news! We don't want a PR guy "advising" McClaren.

This will be controversial but why don't we get behind McClaren and urge him to make the right decision and Bring Back Beckham!?
